Les Webb
I was born in Bromley, Kent and first started playing in the Mayfield Band in East Sussex. I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and obtained a BA and also a PP (Professional Performance Diploma). In 2009, I have completed a PGCE in music and now hold Qualified Teacher Status.
I have played trombone with Yorkshire Imps, Fodens, and Aldbourne. I have also helped out Grimethorpe and Leyland Bands and played with some local orchestras in Manchester. I currently play Solo Trombone with The Fairey Band.
I have enjoyed much contest success conducting Eccles Borough Band, the highlights of which were winning the 4th Section Area competition in 2009 and the Butlins Mineworkers contests in 2008/9.
Les left the band at the end of 2009 to pursue his playing career with the Fairey Band after 5 successful years conducting Eccles. We wish Les all the best.
