Ross will be taking part in the expert category of ‘The Wall‘ aiming to raise funds for Eccles Borough Band.

Ross will complete (or attempt to complete) the 69 mile in one continuous journey with the aim of completing it in under 24 hours. Starting on Saturday morning at Carlisle Castle, and finishing at Baltic Quay in Newcastle … well, when they finish. This is the ultimate Wall challenge which will be a good day out and for some a long day out with most running sections of the course into and through the night.

Drawn to play 11th out of 16 bands, we were delighted that the adjudicators, Alan Holdsworth and Barry Thompson placed our performance of Goff Richard’s ‘Hollywood’ in second place.

This meant that we have qualified for the National Championships of Great Britain, which are to be held at Cheltenham in September. It also means that from January 2014 Eccles Borough Band will be promoted to the Second Section, our highest ranking since the early 1960′s.

Our congratulations go to Marple Band who won the contest and to Hawk Green Band who came third. Both bands will be joining us in representing the North West region at the finals in September.
